Homes Are Still Selling — Even in a Slower Market
If you’ve been reading the real estate headlines lately, you might think buyers have disappeared. They haven’t. The market has changed, though, and that matters if you’re thinking about selling a home here in the Pacific Northwest.
Home sales picked up a little in September, according to the National Association of Realtors, but sales remain below last year’s levels. The pace is slower, and buyers have more choices than they did when homes were flying off the market.
But life doesn’t wait for the perfect real estate market.
People change jobs, families grow, relationships change, kids leave home, and retirement brings new plans. Sometimes you need more room. Sometimes you need less. And sometimes a new opportunity comes along that makes a move the right next step.
The market is still moving
Based on the current pace of sales, the National Association of Realtors expects nearly 4 million existing homes to sell across the country this year. That’s roughly 11,000 homes a day!
Of course, the national numbers don’t tell the whole story here in Snohomish County or the greater Puget Sound area. Local inventory, pricing, interest rates, and the competition in your particular neighborhood all play a part.
What does this mean if you’re selling?
Today’s buyers can be more selective. They’re paying attention to price, condition, and how a home compares with others on the market. A home that might have sold quickly a few years ago may need a more thoughtful strategy today.
That means pricing realistically from the start, presenting your home well, and understanding what buyers are choosing between. It also means being willing to listen to feedback and adjust when the market tells us something.
You don’t need every buyer to fall in love with your home. You need the right buyer to see its value.
The bottom line: A slower market doesn’t mean a market that has stopped. Homes are still selling every day, including right here in the Pacific Northwest.
If a move is on your mind, let’s talk about what’s happening in your neighborhood and what it would take to put your home in the best position to sell. A little planning can make a big difference. 🏡
